The Founders Freedom Scholarship
In an effort to promote interest in the founding of our great nation, and the principles that make our country the greatest in history, Founders Freedom Forum introduces the Founders Freedom Scholarship. A one time $1776.00 educational scholarship will be awarded to the winner of an essay contest based on the founding of the United States of America. The topic for this year is:
“In light of the recent Federal District Court decisions (especially regarding immigration) discuss in your essay: the Judicial Branch of the U.S. Government, its powers and limitations, and the Founding Father's intent for this branch of government.”
Any high school senior in Kalamazoo County or Van Buren County that will be graduating from a public, private, parochial or home school that will be attending college, trade school or an apprenticeship in the fall of 2018 is eligible. In order to qualify for the scholarship all essays must follow this criteria:
•Essay topic and application form will be posted on 1/1/2018.
•Length of essay to be between 750 and 1200 words excluding references.
•All entries must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
•Essays must include a bibliography / reference page.
•Lines should be double spaced.
•Essays must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before April 1st, 2018.
•All essays must be submitted with completed application, see below.
•Applicants must be high school seniors who will graduate in the spring of 2018 and attend a college, trade school or apprenticeship in the fall of 2018.
•All submitted essays become the property of the Founders Freedom Forum.
•Scholarship will be award to the student with the winning essay at a Founders Freedom Forum meeting.
•Applicants must be a citizen of the United States or legal resident.
All entries will be judged by the Education Committee of the Founders Freedom Forum and select independent judges. Winner will be notified in May, 2018 with the award presented at a Founders Freedom Forum meeting later in the spring. Award ceremony will be open to the public.
